About the player
Liu Jiashen's route into professional football began with the collapse of his own youth club. Qingdao Hailifeng was dissolved in 2010 following a match-fixing scandal, and the young defender moved on to Shanghai Shenhua, making his debut for the club on 18 June 2011.
After four seasons in Shanghai, Liu returned to his hometown club, Qingdao FC, on a free transfer in 2015 and spent seven years there. The high point of that spell came in 2019, when he was a key player as Qingdao FC won the China League One title and secured promotion to the Chinese Super League. The club were relegated at the end of the 2021 season, and Liu left the following year.
He joined Shaanxi Chang'an Athletic on a free transfer in April 2022, but that stay was brief, lasting only until July. He then moved to Qingdao Hainiu on another free transfer, and helped the club win promotion back to the Chinese Super League at the end of the 2022 China League One campaign — a second promotion of his career.
A right-footed centre-back standing 191 cm tall, Liu has built his career around Qingdao and Shanghai, the two cities that have defined it, without adding international caps for China along the way.
