About the player
Mathías Tomás started out in Uruguay with Juventud de Las Piedras, working through the club's youth ranks before making his first-team debut in the Segunda División. A brief spell at Boston River followed before he left Uruguay altogether in September 2021, joining Greek side Iraklis as a free agent. Over two seasons in Greece's Super League 2 he scored five goals.
The turning point came in Switzerland. Tomás signed for Thun in February 2025, arriving after the club had already secured the Challenge League title and promotion to the Super League. His involvement was limited to three appearances, without a goal but with one assist, and a hand injury kept him out for much of the spring. Even so, he picked up the only trophy of his career so far as part of that promotion-winning squad.
In August 2025, Thun sent him out on a season-long loan to APOEL Nicosia, where he now wears the number 15 shirt. In the Cypriot First Division he has become APOEL's top scorer with four goals, and his Sofascore rating points to him as one of the side's key performers this season.
He has not been capped for Uruguay's senior national team, and his only youth international experience, with the under-17 side, did not extend to competitive minutes.
