Mateusz Żukowski

Mateusz Żukowski made his name at Lechia Gdańsk, where he came through the academy after joining in 2015 and broke into the first team in 2017, later winning the Polish Cup and Polish Super Cup with the club. That form earned him a move to Rangers in January 2022 on a three-and-a-half-year deal reported at between £400,000 and £500,000, but he could not force his way into regular action in Scotland and was sent out on loan to Lech Poznań for the 2023/24 season.

After leaving Rangers, Żukowski returned to Poland with Śląsk Wrocław, signing a contract extension there before a move to 1. FC Magdeburg. The switch to Germany has coincided with the most productive spell of his career: converted from a right-back into a centre-forward, he scored 17 goals in the 2. Bundesliga in the 2025/2026 season, a run that has reportedly pushed his market value up to around €6 million.

Żukowski progressed through Poland's youth ranks at Under-17, Under-19, Under-20 and Under-21 level before earning his first senior call-up. He made his debut for the national team on 31 May 2026 in a friendly against Ukraine in Wrocław, a match Poland lost 0-2. He has since gone on to collect three caps without scoring, wearing the number 13 shirt for the national side — different from the number he wears at club level.
