Malcom Sylas Edjouma Laouari

Malcom Edjouma's route to FCSB ran through several clubs and countries before he settled in Bucharest. Born in Toulouse, he came up through the Paris Saint-Germain and Toulouse academies before a spell at Bordeaux, then worked his way through the French lower divisions with Balma, Châteauroux's reserve side, Belfort and Concarneau. A move to Lorient brought him to a new level of development, though it produced three separate loans — to Concarneau again, then Red Star and Chambly — before he left France for good.

That departure took him to Romania by way of Belgium: Viitorul Constanța first, then a free transfer to Roeselare, then back to Romania with FC Botoșani. It was at Botoșani, in February 2023, that he was named Gazeta Sporturilor's Player of the Month, a performance that had already caught the attention of bigger clubs. FCSB paid a fee in the region of €300,000–350,000 to sign him in February 2022, and the midfielder has since become a fixture of the club's recent domestic dominance, winning the Liga I title in 2023–24 and again in 2024–25, along with the Supercupa României in 2024.

He holds dual French and Moroccan nationality, reflecting a Cameroonian father and Moroccan mother, and although eligible for France, Cameroon and Morocco, he chose to represent Morocco at youth level in 2018. A brief loan to Bari 1908 in August 2023 interrupted his time in Bucharest, but he returned to FCSB and stayed until a January 2026 move to Qingdao Hainiu.
