About the player

In his first season in the Bundesliga, 2021–22, Riemann-Lorenzen kept 11 clean sheets and recorded the highest save percentage in the league at 74.8%. He had come up with VfL Bochum the season before, playing a central part in the 2. Bundesliga title and the promotion that went with it.

The route there ran through the lower divisions. He came out of TSV Ampfing and TSV 1860 Rosenheim, and made his senior debut for Wacker Burghausen's reserve side in the Oberliga Bayern before moving up to the first team, where he made 84 league appearances across the 2. Bundesliga, 3. Liga and Regionalliga. VfL Osnabrück followed for 66 league matches, then SV Sandhausen for 61 in the 2. Bundesliga.

Bochum signed him in 2015. He remained the first-choice goalkeeper until he was suspended for the 2023–24 relegation play-off. In January 2025 club and player terminated the contract by mutual consent, and on 22 January he signed for SC Paderborn 07 on a free transfer. He made 13 league appearances there; that contract was also ended by mutual consent, in July 2025.

Six months without a club followed. Alemannia Aachen signed him on 27 January 2026, again on a free transfer, and he made his 3. Liga debut for them on 21 February in a 3-1 win over SC Verl. Five days later he played in the Landespokal quarter-final against Fortuna Köln.

He has never been capped by Germany at senior or youth level. Born Manuel Riemann, he has used the double surname since 2016.
