About the player
Ask about Marcelinho at Ypiranga and the first job is to clear up who he is not. He shares a name with Marcelinho Paraíba, born in 1975, who played for the same club in 2016 and retired years ago. The Marcelinho in the squad now is Marcelo Antônio de Oliveira, born in Cascavel in Paraná in 1996, and his career has taken a very different route.
He came through the academy at Flamengo, but the professional path started later and further from Rio. Auritânia in Foz do Iguaçu gave him his first senior football in 2015 and 2016, after which he moved between Londrina and Portugal. His years at Marítimo ran from 2019 to 2021 and were broken up by a loan to Vizela; earlier, in 2017, a spell in Georgia with Shukura had already taken him abroad.
The trophies came in a two-year stretch back home. He won the Campeonato Paranaense with Londrina in 2021, then the Copa Verde after joining Paysandu in 2022. What followed was a run of short stays — Camboriú, Galo Maringá, Ferroviário and Guarani in 2023, then Itabaiana, Aimorés and CSA.
He joined Ypiranga on 1 January 2026 as a free agent and has been in the side since, used as a forward or on the left wing. This season he has played eight matches in the Campeonato Gaúcho, twelve in Série C and one in the Copa do Brasil. After a decade of moving on, he has had a long stretch of regular football happening now in Erechim.
