Marco Bustillo

The final of the Copa Marriott went to penalties, and Marco Bustillo ended it on the winning side against the club that made him. Metropolitanos and Carabobo had drawn 2-2; the shoot-out finished 6-5. Bustillo had come through at Carabobo, where he was part of the squad that won the Venezuelan Primera División in 2016, though his first-team debut came later — on 27 August 2017, against Atlético Venezuela.

The move to Metropolitanos in 2019 turned into the long chapter of his career. He stayed for the better part of six years, with breaks, and the numbers depend on where you look: FotMob records 93 appearances and 16 goals across his two main spells, while AS puts him beyond 100 matches and around 21 goals in total.

Continental football gave him one night worth keeping. In the 2021 Copa Sudamericana he scored against Melgar of Peru in a match Metropolitanos won 3-2.

The loans did less. Universidad Central took him for 2022 and got 11 matches and two goals; Academia Puerto Cabello had him in 2023 for six appearances and one goal. Neither spell changed his standing at the parent club, and he returned both times.

He left as a free agent in January 2025, joining Portuguesa. That season brought 11 matches and a single goal.

Bustillo has spent his career in and around the Venezuelan top flight.
