About the player
A goalkeeper who spent four years in the Real Madrid academy, Marcos Lavín Rodríguez has instead built a career out of moving.
He came through youth football at Estepona from 2007, then Vascas Cultural, before joining Real Madrid in 2012. His one recorded appearance at that level came for the Under-19 side in the UEFA Youth League in 2014/15. The senior career started in 2016 at UD Logroñés B, five matches, followed by two league games for Atlético Saguntino.
The steadiest stretch of his early years came at Córdoba. He played 29 matches for the B team in 2017/18, and in 2018/19 appeared 10 times for the first team in the Segunda División, plus three in the Copa del Rey. A season at Getafe B brought 22 games.
In September 2020 he went abroad for the first time, signing for Voluntari in Romania, where he made seven Liga I appearances. The move back to Spain did not go to plan: he signed for Extremadura in January 2021 but could not obtain a work permit until June, and left without playing a competitive match.
He rebuilt through the Spanish lower divisions — 30 games for Atlético Saguntino in 2022/23, 12 at Algeciras, then 30 for Lugo in Primera Federación.
Lavín joined Dunkerque on 6 August 2025 and wore the number 1 shirt. He made nine Ligue 2 appearances, conceding 15 goals and keeping a clean sheet once, and played one Coupe de France tie against Strasbourg, a 2–1 defeat. On 8 July 2026 Académico de Viseu announced his signing for the 2026/27 season.
