About the player
Assinor scored twice in a friendly against Oleksandriya, a 2-1 win. The Ghanaian forward had come to Ukraine from Slovakia, where a season at Železiarne Podbrezová produced six goals in 28 matches, enough to persuade LNZ to pay a transfer fee.
The move to LNZ did not go smoothly at first. In August 2024, weeks after signing, Assinor suffered a meniscus injury that kept him out for close to two hundred days and cost him 24 matches. He returned to finish his first season with nine goals in 31 appearances.
The following campaign brought his best football in Ukraine. Assinor became LNZ's second-highest scorer in the Premier League with ten goals as the club finished as runners-up in the championship. The forward's route to that season had run through loan spells and lower leagues rather than a straight path to the top.
Born in Accra, Assinor built his early career in Poland before finding a more settled run of form in central Europe and then at LNZ.
