Nelson Jhonny Luis Cabanillas Jesús

Cabanillas spent the second half of 2018 in Chile without playing a single official match for his club's first team. He had come through the academy at Universitario de Deportes but could not make his debut for the senior side because of FIFA sanctions against the club, so in September 2018 he signed his first professional contract with San Luis de Quillota on a three-year deal. Until January 2019 he appeared only for the Chilean side's under-19 team.

In 2019 he went back to Universitario on a season-long loan, then joined permanently at the end of that year on a two-year contract. In 2021 he extended for a further three. Across all competitions he made 133 appearances for the club.

He won the Torneo Apertura in 2020 and again in 2024, the Torneo Clausura in 2023 and 2024, and was a Peruvian champion in both 2023 and 2024.

His contract at Universitario expired in December 2024, and he moved to FBC Melgar as a free agent on a deal for the 2025 season. By the end of that year he had played 25 matches for his new club without scoring.

At international level his record is short: two appearances for Peru's under-17 side, no goals. He has not been called up by the senior national team.
