About the player
Niklas Tauer worked his way into Mainz 05's first team, where he went on to make 19 Bundesliga appearances for the club. A defensive midfielder, he later had his development interrupted away from Mainz: the arrangement was cut short in January 2024.
Tauer looked to have found a way back into regular football, appearing 23 times before a cruciate ligament injury in October 2024 halted his progress. He eventually moved on from Mainz on a free transfer, joining Havelse.
Tauer's development was also shaped by spells in Germany's youth set-ups. He was capped at U18, U19 and U20 level, evidence of a player equally comfortable contributing goals from midfield as breaking up opposition play.
