About the player
Nikolaos Michelis holds a Serie A winner's medal without having played a minute in the competition. He received a championship medal all the same.
Michelis came through at Asteras Tripolis, the club he left in 2019 when Milan signed him into their youth system. In July 2021 he was loaned to Willem II in the Netherlands, where he played 13 matches over the 2021/22 season.
Spain followed. He joined CD Mirandés in 2022 and stayed two years, with a loan spell at CA Osasuna B during 2023/24. He now plays for Académico de Viseu in Portugal, wearing the number 2 shirt.
His international record runs through Greece's youth sides. He made five appearances for the under-18s in 2019 and scored once, added a single under-19 cap the same year, then played three times for the under-21s in 2022, again scoring. He has not been capped by the senior national team.
At 192cm, Michelis is built for the aerial side of central defence. He has collected no individual honours — no league team of the season, no player-of-the-month awards — before turning 24.
