About the player
Paulinho joined Fortaleza in 2026 as a graduate of Vasco da Gama's academy, the club where his professional career began. His arrival was formalised with an official presentation on 11 February 2026, alongside a contract running to the end of 2030.
At Vasco, Paulinho worked his way up through the youth ranks, including an appearance in the Copinha with the club's junior side. His first taste of senior football came in the Campeonato Carioca, where he started two matches and scored once.
The clearest marker of his progress so far came with Brazil's under-20 side. In February 2025, Paulinho was part of the squad that won the South American Under-20 Championship, beating Chile 3-0 in the final on 16 February. He featured in four matches during the tournament, starting two of them and totalling 54 minutes on the pitch.
