About the player

Pedro Franco came through the youth system at Millonarios and made his first-team debut there in 2009, the start of a career that would take him across three continents. His breakthrough came with Colombia's under-20 side: at the 2011 South American Youth Championship he was named the tournament's best player, and he backed that up with the best defender award at the Toulon Tournament the same year, before playing at the 2011 U-20 World Cup on home soil.

The form he showed as a youngster earned him a move to Turkey in 2013, when Besiktas paid Millonarios 2.4 million euros for him. He spent five years in Istanbul, interrupted by loan spells back at Millonarios, at San Lorenzo in Argentina and at Boluspor, and was part of the Besiktas squad that won the Turkish Super Lig in the 2015/16 season.

His performances in Turkey also opened the door to the senior Colombia national team, for whom he played five matches in 2014 and 2015, including an appearance at the 2015 Copa America.

Franco returned to Colombian football in 2018, joining America de Cali, where he won two league titles, the 2019-II Apertura and the 2020 championship. After that spell he moved to Fortaleza CEIF, where he played through 2022, before joining Alianza Petrolera, where he now wears the number 5 shirt at centre-back.
