About the player
Ricardo Horta has scored the winning goal in two separate cup finals for Sporting Clube de Braga — first in the 2019/20 Taça da Liga decider, settled in stoppage time, and then in the 2020/21 Taça de Portugal final against Benfica.
He came through the Vitória de Setúbal academy and made his first-team debut there in April 2013, before Málaga signed him the following year. A loan back to Portugal, to Braga in 2016/17, followed: 32 league appearances and six goals persuaded the club to sign him permanently that summer.
Horta has since become Braga's all-time leading scorer, both in the league and in European competition. He was named to the Primeira Liga Team of the Season for 2021/22, 2022/23 and 2025/26, alongside Player of the Month and Forward of the Month honours in April 2022.
The goal against South Korea came at the 2022 World Cup. Earlier, with the under-21 side, he won silver at the 2015 European Championship.
