About the player
Riley Tiernan spent four years at Rutgers before turning professional in 2025, when she signed her first professional contract with Angel City FC. She played all 26 NWSL regular-season matches in her debut campaign.
The numbers from that first season stood out: eight goals and an assist, a tally that ranked as the second-highest goal return by a rookie in NWSL history and set a club record for a debutant at Angel City. She was named NWSL Rookie of the Month twice, in May and June 2025, and was nominated for the league's Rookie of the Year award, though the honour went to Gotham FC's Lily Reale.
Tiernan made her debut for the United States U-23 side on 30 May 2025, in a 2-1 win over Germany, and had earned four caps at that level by December of that year. She had previously been called into a U-20 national team training camp in December 2021, during her time at Rutgers.
Tiernan is under contract with Angel City through 2026, with a club option to extend the deal into 2027.
