Rodrigo Ramiro Perea Salazar

Rodrigo Perea has made a career out of moving. Since turning professional at Universidad Católica in Quito in 2012, where he spent four seasons, the Quinindé-born goalkeeper has worn the shirts of Delfín, Fuerza Amarilla, 9 de Octubre, América de Quito, Técnico Universitario, Mushuc Runa and Deportivo Quito, rarely settling anywhere for more than a season or two.

The move paid off almost immediately. Guayaquil City won Serie B that season, securing promotion to Ecuador's top flight, and Perea's arrival coincided with the club's push up the table. It is the closest thing to a defining achievement in a career built more on longevity than on individual accolades — there is no record of caps for the national side or personal prizes attached to his name.

Before any of that, Perea came through Ecuadorian youth football at Caribe Junior between 2005 and 2007, then split time between El Nacional and Star Club before El Nacional again in 2011, the kind of shuttling between clubs that would come to define the rest of his career. By the time he arrived at Guayaquil City, he had already worn eleven different shirts in two decades in the game — a résumé that says less about spectacular moments than about a goalkeeper who kept finding new dressing rooms willing to give him the gloves.
