About the player
Hoffmann spent four years on Bayern Munich's books without making a single senior appearance for the first team, playing instead for the reserve side: a Bundesliga title, the Champions League and the FIFA Club World Cup all came while he was registered as third choice for the club world championship squad. The loan spell that followed suited him better. Sent to Sunderland for the 2021–22 season, he made 23 league appearances and was part of the squad that won promotion through the League One play-offs.
A permanent move to Eintracht Braunschweig followed, and over two seasons he established himself as a regular, making 45 league appearances. Braunschweig won their relegation play-off against Saarbrücken, triggering that clause.
Born in Rostock, Hoffmann has represented Germany at U18 level, with two caps in 2016, but has not featured for any senior national side.
