About the player
Before América de Quito turned him into a reliable source of goals in Segunda Categoría, he scored 33 times in 36 appearances during the 2016–2017 seasons. That form carried América de Quito to the title, and after a loan spell at Liga de Quito and a brief stop at Universidad Católica, he returned to América de Quito for a longer run that produced 41 goals in 80 matches.
The clearest peak of his career came at El Nacional. Across 2022 and 2023 he scored 29 goals in 55 appearances, helped the club win the Serie B title, and finished as the competition's top scorer that season. He had also featured once in the Copa Sudamericana with Aucas.
That spell earned him a move abroad. Portimonense signed him for Portuguese football in 2023, where he scored six goals in 30 matches before a switch to Brazil with Juventude. His time there was followed by a loan to Inter de Limeira and a season at Botafogo-SP, where he scored four goals in 23 appearances.
He returned to Ecuadorian football with Mushuc Runa, scoring 10 goals in 24 matches, form that has since taken him to Emelec. In August 2024, national team coach Sebastián Beccacece called him into the Ecuador squad, though he is yet to add an official cap. Sources differ on his exact position, with some listing him as a midfielder and others, including ESPN, describing him as a forward — a debate his scoring record across Ecuador, Portugal and Brazil, over 100 goals in 267 matches, does little to settle.
