About the player
He began at KTP before Sevilla signed him in 2008, though he managed only a single first-team appearance and spent most of his spell with the club's reserves. A return to HJK followed, and in 2011 Schalke 04 paid to take him to Germany. Celtic brought him to Scotland in 2013 for a fee in the region of £3-3.5 million, but he never established himself there, scoring just seven goals in 26 matches.
The turnaround came in Denmark. At Brøndby, Pukki became one of the league's leading scorers before Norwich City signed him as a free agent in 2018. In the Premier League the following season, he scored 11 goals including a hat-trick against Newcastle and was named the division's Player of the Month for August 2019. He went on to score 87 goals in 198 appearances for Norwich, a spell followed by a move to Minnesota United in 2023 and a return to HJK in 2025.
Pukki made his Finland debut in 2009 and, in October 2021, scored twice against Kazakhstan to pass Jari Litmanen as the country's all-time leading scorer. He has gone on to reach 43 goals in 133 caps. With HJK, he won the Finnish championship in 2010 and 2011 and the Finnish Cup in 2011.
