About the player
Tim van der Leij grew up in the youth academies of PSV Eindhoven and Vitesse, but the path stalled when Vitesse lost its professional licence. Rather than a stalled career, that turned into an opening: instead of ever making a senior appearance for Vitesse, he moved straight into the RKC Waalwijk first team for the 2025–26 Eerste Divisie season.
The switch suited him. Across the season he made 33 league appearances for Waalwijk and scored 13 goals, adding four more in three cup outings. The numbers were enough to draw interest from abroad, and in June 2026 he moved to VfB Stuttgart in Germany's 3. Liga for a fee of €1 million plus bonuses, signing a contract that runs until 2030.
At Stuttgart he was initially assigned to the club's second team, where he has one appearance and one goal to his name so far. At 193 cm, the right-footed centre-forward offers a physical presence that clubs at that level tend to value.
