About the player
Tiago Codinha made his professional debut in an Eredivisie shirt on 24 January 2026, coming off the bench in the 77th minute as Ajax beat Volendam 2-0, replacing Jannik Lelindal.
Before that, Codinha's development ran through FC Utrecht's youth ranks between 2020 and 2023, then the shared Twente/Heracles Almelo pathway from 2023. He was named captain of the Heracles youth side and, during the 2024/25 season, was included in the first-team squad. The step up came only once he moved to Volendam. Since his debut he has featured twice in the league and once in the KNVB Cup, without scoring.
His name is frequently misspelled s as Thiago Codina, but the correct spelling is Codinha. He was born in Hilversum and holds Canadian, Dutch and Portuguese nationality, a background reflected in his international career: he has represented Canada at under-20 level, earning two caps in February 2024 during CONCACAF U-20 qualifying in Trinidad and Tobago. He was not included in the squad for the tournament's final stage in Mexico that July.
