About the player
Vyacheslav Yakimov was born in Novokubansk in Russia's Krasnodar region and spent two years playing for KubGU, the Kuban State University side, while studying economics. With that student team he twice won the European university championship, in 2017 and 2019.
A spell in regional amateur football with Urozhay followed before he broke into senior football. Krasnodar took him back into their system, and between 2019 and 2023 he made 15 appearances for the first team.
Fakel Voronezh brought him in on loan in December 2022, and he made 12 appearances before the move was made permanent in June 2023. He now wears number 23 for the Voronezh club.
Yakimov has not been capped by Russia at senior level.
