Krasnodar secured a 3:2 victory over Fakel in the Premier League's second regular season round on Saturday. The hosts took an early lead through Jubal Junior before N. Krivtsov added two more to put the result beyond doubt. Fakel's late flurry saw M. Turishchev and A. Sutormin score in quick succession, but the visitors could not find an equaliser.
And here's the thing about the opening exchanges — Krasnodar struck twice in the first twenty minutes. Jubal Junior's goal in the fourth minute was followed by Krivtsov's finish in the twenty-seventh. Douglas Augusto and Jubal Junior both picked up yellow cards before the break, a sign that tensions were already rising.
By then the match had turned on a single moment. A. Gnapi Dable stepped up for Fakel's penalty in the fifty-first minute only to see his effort saved. The miss proved costly. Krivtsov doubled his tally in the fifty-ninth, and despite the substitution of Gnapi Dable for Douglas Augusto, Fakel struggled to create meaningful chances.
The visitors finally found their footing late on. Turishchev pulled one back in the eighty-fifth minute, and Sutormin levelled two minutes later. But the effort had come too late. Krasnodar had already made their key changes — Vakhania, Jubal Junior, and the rest — and kept their composure through the closing stages.
The statistics tell an uneven story. Krasnodar controlled 56 per cent of possession and registered five shots on target, yet their expected goals figure stood at just 0.82. Fakel, by contrast, created more danger with an xG of 2.1, though their shot accuracy of 23 per cent told the tale of wasted opportunities.
To be fair, the result reflects what we have seen from both sides this season. Krasnodar sit top after seven games, undefeated with six victories and a draw, while Fakel remain winless in seven outings, sitting sixteenth on two points. The gap between them is widening.
