Williams José Lugo Ladera

Williams José Lugo Ladera left Venezuela at 22 to build a career on the move, and it has taken him across two continents since. He turned professional in 2019 with Portuguesa FC, playing 27 matches before a spell at Deportivo La Guaira, where he scored three goals in twenty appearances. His longest stint came at Academia Puerto Cabello, where he stayed for three seasons and made 97 appearances, scoring six times — the most settled patch of his career so far.

In 2024 that path took an unexpected turn towards Indonesia. On loan at PSBS Biak, Lugo found his scoring form, netting six goals in 30 matches, a return that outstripped anything he had managed at home. Moves to Persik Kediri and then Persipura Jayapura followed in quick succession, each a short chapter rather than a settled home, though he continued to find the net regularly along the way.

In July 2026 Lugo returned to Venezuela, signing for UCV, where he now wears the number 11 shirt. The switch closes a loop that began with his departure for Asia two years earlier and puts him back in a domestic league he left as a young professional still building his reputation. There is no record of a call-up to the Venezuela national team in his career to date.
