Yann Sturm

Yann Sturm came through Freiburg's own academy, working his way up through the B- and A-Junioren-Bundesliga sides before reaching the DFB Junioren Pokal final in the 2023/24 season, where his side lost to TSG Hoffenheim's under-19s. His senior debut came the same season, on 20 December 2023, when he was brought on for SC Freiburg II against MSV Duisburg in the Regionalliga Südwest.

That reserve side became his proving ground. Across three seasons Sturm made 45 appearances for Freiburg II and scored 18 goals. In February 2025 he took a seat on Freiburg's senior bench, though the appearance itself never came.

The step up arrived through a loan instead. In July 2025, Sturm moved to FC Ingolstadt 04 for the 2025/26 season, dropping into the 3. Liga to get regular football. It suited him: he started or came off the bench in 34 league matches and scored nine goals.

The loan spell was enough to convince Eintracht Braunschweig, who signed him permanently for the 2026/27 season, taking him up to the 2. Bundesliga. Financial details of the move were not disclosed.

Sturm has no senior trophies or individual awards to his name yet, and has not featured for Germany at any senior level. His progression so far has been built through minutes rather than moments — a reserve-team scoring record, then a productive loan year, each step used to justify the next.
