About the player
Qiwen Zhu came through the youth academy at Shanghai Shenhua, progressing through the club's age groups before signing his first professional contract there in December 2022. Rather than break straight into the first team, he was loaned out to Nanjing City in the 2023/24 season, and the arrangement was extended for the 2025 campaign as well. That loan spell became the platform for his career: in China League One with Nanjing City he made 26 appearances and scored four goals in the 2025 season, numbers that made the move permanent. Nanjing City announced his free transfer in March 2026, closing out his formal ties to Shanghai Shenhua.
Zhu has also been capped at various Chinese youth levels, with a single appearance for the under-19s in 2020, one for the under-20s in 2021, and one each for the under-21s and under-22s in friendly matches in 2023. He has not featured for the senior national team.
At 185cm and right-footed, Zhu fits the profile of a midfielder, as his return at Nanjing City in 2025 suggests.
