AA Iguaçu

Two cities sit across a river from each other on the Paraná–Santa Catarina border, and in 1971 a football club could stitch them together. He set it up in Porto União, on the Santa Catarina side, and named it for the water dividing the two towns. Filiation went to the Paraná federation instead, a choice made for logistics rather than sentiment, and it was in União da Vitória, on the Paraná bank, that the club settled and stayed.

The first match came on 14 November 1971, against EC Pinheiros, whose captain Alex is one of the few names that survived from that opening game. A year later, striker Joaquim, known as "Tanque Joaquim," topped the scoring charts in the club's debut season. Money trouble in 1996 forced a rebrand to Sociedade Esportiva Iguaçu, though the name reverted once the crisis passed — the same year the second division title was won, one of three such wins alongside 1987 and 1991. The closest brush with the top flight's upper reaches came in 1974, a fourth-place finish in the Campeonato Paranaense that has not been matched since.

The club answers to Pantera do Vale, the panther of the valley, and plays in yellow and blue. More recent silverware has come from smaller stages — a third division title in 2020, a Sub-20 trophy in the Taça Planalto Norte in 2022 — proof the badge still turns up where it can.

Home games are played at the Estádio Municipal Antiocho Pereira, a ground that holds just over 4,000 in União da Vitória, the town on the Paraná side of the river the club was built to bridge.
