Nothing about Samas reads like a derby. What sets Samas apart is not who it fights but where it started and where it chose to land.
The club existed for decades as Rolândia Esporte Clube, founded on 6 November 1973 in the town of Rolândia. It entered the Paraná state football federation in 2017 before reaching the final of that year's Terceira Divisão, where São Joseense beat it 2-0 on aggregate. A quarter-final exit followed in 2024.
In January 2025 the club left Rolândia for São Mateus do Sul and began building a new identity around it. The Brazilian Football Confederation registered the new name, Samas Sport Club, in November 2025, at which point Rolândia Esporte Clube ceased to exist.
Mauricio Ramos took over as head coach for the 2025 season, and in August the club brought in Tiago Machowski, a former Grêmio goalkeeper, to coach its goalkeepers. Home matches are played at the Estádio Municipal Edison Carlos Schramm, which holds 600 people.
