A capacity of 100 tells the story on its own: the pitch at the Yuri Konoplev Football Academy stadium in Primorsky, near Tolyatti, is built for people who already know the players' names, not for a crowd off the street. When Akron's youth side, the Konoplev Academy, hosted Zenit's reserves, the match report logged 50 spectators against that hundred-seat limit — a scoreline of attendance as much as a football one.

The ground sits apart from Akron's main stadium, Kristall, across town in Tolyatti proper. That separation matters: the academy has always run as its own operation first, a football club second. Its roots go back to 2003 and the founding of the Lada sports school, and Akron only took over as founder and operator in 2022, absorbing a structure that had spent two decades building players rather than results.

Results, in fact, are the wrong measure here. The U20s finished 17th in the MFL table in 2023 and sixth in the ЮФЛ-1 in 2026, unremarkable placings for a school whose graduate list runs to Alan Dzagoev, Roman Zobnin and Ilya Kutepov, all capped for Russia. Dmitry Ryzhov came through the same pipeline before winning the European U-17 title in 2006. By 2018, eighteen of the academy's alumni were playing in the Russian Premier League, with roughly thirty more scattered across the lower divisions — a conversion rate that has little to do with the youth team's own league position.

What does draw a crowd, relatively speaking, is the fixture against Krylia Sovetov's academy sides. Samara and Tolyatti sit close enough that the meeting gets called a Volga derby in the regional press, and the rivalry carries down into the junior leagues, where MFL fixtures between the two are treated as the closest thing this stadium sees to an occasion.
