Akademiya Ontustik

The BIIK football centre in Shymkent holds 3,000 people, a scale that matches a club still built around development rather than crowds. Akademiya Ontustik plays there because the ground sits inside the same academy that gave the club its name and, for years, most of its squad.

The club was formed in 2018 out of graduates of that academy, replacing a disbanded youth sports school known as SDYUSHOR No. 7. It remains under Shymkent's physical culture and sports department, and around 300 children aged 10 to 17 train there now.

Promotion came almost immediately: a second-place finish in the Second League in 2018 sent the club up to the First League, where it has played every season since without reaching the Premier League. A fourth-place finish is its best league result; in 2025 it finished seventh. In the Kazakhstan Cup it has reached the last sixteen three times, in 2019, 2023 and 2026, without going further.

Cup meetings with Ordabasy, the older and better-known Shymkent club, are billed locally as the Shymkent derby. The most recent one, in April 2026, finished 4-2 to Ordabasy.

During a home match in August 2023, fans attacked players from Kairat-Zhastar, an incident that stayed attached to the club's name longer than any result that season.

The academy's most talked-about product now is Alikhan Ali, born in 2008, who finished as the First League's top scorer in 2026 and has since drawn interest from Spartak Moscow's youth setup.
