Balıkesir BŞB

The Kurtdereli Spor Salonu holds 2,500. Balıkesir BŞB plays there in red and white, and the club's own path to that level took only a few seasons.

It started in 2014 as Karesispor, entering the Regional Basketball Leagues rather than any higher tier. The rise came fast: the EBBL title in 2015-2016 sent the team into the Turkey Basketball Second League, and a year later it won that competition too, beating Antalyaspor 68-56 in the final group stage to reach the Turkey Basketball League. The club took the new name Balıkesir Büyükşehir Belediyespor once it got there.

On court, Gani Lawal's arrival in 2017-2018 brought a player with NBA experience into the Karesispor-era squad, while Ümit Sonkol wore the captaincy long enough to become the more constant presence as the roster changed around promotions.

Matches against Bandırma Bordo Basketbol are known locally as the Balıkesir Derby. The club also runs a wheelchair basketball side in the Wheelchair Basketball Super League and keeps a youth structure running from U10 through U18, feeding players toward a first team that is still aiming at the Basketbol Süper Ligi rather than treating the Turkey Basketball League as the end point. That aim traces back to the same climb that began in the Regional Basketball Leagues in 2014.
