Changwon City

In 2023 the club dropped "City" from its name and left the municipal government, becoming a foundation so that it met the Korea Football Association's club licensing rules and could be run on a lasting footing. Choi Kyeong-don was the manager in 2025.

For the first eighteen years it was a city hall side, founded in 2005 as Changwon City Hall Football Club and playing in the National League. It won the National League Championship in 2006, its second season. The striker Lee Kil-yong was the league's top scorer that year and again in 2008. Park Hang-seo coached the team in that league before he moved on to the Vietnam national team.

The move to the Changwon Football Center, which holds about 15,000, came in 2009. Until then the team played at Changwon Stadium, a bigger ground with 27,085 seats. That year the club finished first in the regular season, after winning the Second Stage. A second national title followed in 2017, and there were runners-up finishes in 2011 and 2015.

The most recent trophy is the K3 League title of 2022, won on 57 points from 17 wins, 6 draws and 7 defeats. Luan Costa scored 13 of the goals. That was the last season under the old name, and the rebrand followed it.

The nearest rival is Gimhae City, and matches between them are called the Bulmosan Derby after the mountain that lies between the two towns. Changwon also shares its city with Gyeongnam FC of the K League 2, a club playing a division above with a much bigger profile.
