Correcaminos UAT Victoria

Roadrunners still run in the top flight of the Liga Nacional de Baloncesto Profesional. Correcaminos UAT Victoria represents the Universidad Autónoma de Tamaulipas, and Ciudad Victoria has followed the club through three different leagues on its way there: a founding member of the Conferencia de Básquetbol Profesional, then into the Circuito Mexicano de Básquetbol in 1997, before reaching the LNBP itself in 2000.

That first LNBP campaign ended in a final lost to Correcaminos UAT Tampico, one of two sister clubs carrying the same university name into the same league. Two years later the roles reversed: Correcaminos UAT Victoria beat Correcaminos UAT Matamoros 4–3 to take the 2002 title. Omar Quintero belongs to that period more than any result does — a 87-point game remains a Mexican university record under his name, and he went on to play in Spain's ACB before returning to coach Mexico's national team.

The club sat out the 2009–10 and 2010–11 seasons before returning, and in 2016 it took the name Correbasket UAT, won in 2022. A women's side, Correbasket UAT Femenil, joined the LNBP Femenil in 2023, extending the university's name into a second competition. Off the court, the Clásico Tamaulipeco against the football club Tampico-Madero gives the city its sharpest rivalry, though the basketball team's own history runs closer to home, against the other Correcaminos sides bearing the same crest.
