The Estadio Eriko Galeano Segovia holds 15,000 now, which is nearly twice what it took after the 2013 rebuild, when the capacity stood at 8,000.

The club that plays there came out of the Liga Deportiva Capiateña de Fútbol and was constituted on 4 September 2008. Four years later it was second in the División Intermedia, the Paraguayan second tier, and that placing carried promotion with it.

What followed is the reason people outside Paraguay know the name. In 2014 Capiatá reached the last 16 of the Copa Sudamericana and beat Boca Juniors 1-0 at La Bombonera.

The yellow and blue vertical stripes give the side one of its two nicknames, the Auriazules. The other, Escoberos, comes from escoba — the broom.

The club has no Primera División title, and it is back in the División Intermedia.
