Fernando de la Mora

The reunification assembly of 13 April 1941 brought together Triunfo F.C., which had been founded there on 25 December 1925, renamed Club Triunfo three years later, and fractured into rival outfits calling themselves Presidente Alvear and San Vicente. When the sides sat down again in 1941, they formed a single club.

Fernando de la Mora has spent most of its life below the top flight. It won the second division, then called División Intermedia, in 1930, and took the third tier four times, in 1949, 1950, 1958 and 2003. Promotion to Primera División came in 2006, on the back of the 2005 Intermedia runner-up finish, and lasted one season: the club finished bottom and went straight back down. It has not returned since, and a run to the last 32 of the Copa Paraguay in 2024 stands as its best showing in the national cup.

They still play as El Rojo de Palomar, the shirt red-sleeved over white, a name that keeps the old neighbourhood alive even after the district grew into its own city. Home games are at the Estadio Emiliano Ghezzi, a ground built for a club whose story has stayed local, close to Asunción but never quite of it.
