Independiente F.b.c.

Independiente F.B.C. won Paraguay's third-tier title four times before it ever won anything higher — in 1962, 1975, 1980 and 2001 — dropping back into the Tercera División and climbing out of it again each time. Twenty-one years separated that last title from the one before it, and fifteen more passed before a real breakthrough arrived. It came in 2016, when Independiente — known around Asunción simply as El Inde — won the División Intermedia, the second division, still the best finish the club has managed. The Copa Paraguay has eluded them altogether: the competition was not even set up until 2018, well after Independiente's run of promotions had already slowed. Together, those two honours make up the whole of the club's trophy list.

White and blue are Independiente's colours, and together they earned the club a second name among its own supporters: La Máquina Azul, the Blue Machine. Home matches are played at the Estadio Ricardo Gregor, a ground in Asunción that holds around 4,000 spectators.

The club's roots lie in Campo Grande, the Asunción neighbourhood that supplied its full original name, Independiente de Campo Grande — a name still used alongside Independiente F.B.C. — when the team was founded there on 20 September 1925.
