Ķekava / Auda

Matches against FK Liepāja get called a "principiāla kauja" in Ķekava. This is a side whose identity was built, not inherited.

It began as the works team of a fishing collective farm, "9. maijs", founded in 1969. When the farm was reorganised into the "Auda" fishing enterprise in 1990, the club took that name, and it kept changing shape with whatever owned it — briefly RFK, then RFK Auda, then, after a 2006 merger with FK Alberts, FK Auda/Alberts. The club relocated to Ķekava and built its own ground there, a small stadium holding 520.

Promotion to the Virslīga followed in 2021. Third place in the league came in both 2023 and 2024. The following year it was won: the Cup lifted in 2025, a repeat of the 2022 triumph. That run of cup and league form opened the door to Europe, and Ķekava/Auda has taken part in the UEFA Conference League in four straight seasons.

The club has also started selling players at a level unfamiliar to a team its size — the Panamanian forward Josué Vergara moved on to KAA Gent for a fee in the region of €3 million, a transfer that would once have been unthinkable for a club still known by the green and black of a village works team.

Underneath it all sits a youth academy with more than 300 children, aged four to under-19 — the same kind of local base the fishing collective once provided, just pointed forward instead of back.
