Mārupe

Jaunmārupe sits inside the Mārupe municipality, a fast-growing patch of suburban land just outside Riga, close enough to the airport that the club's own ground shares its address with a primary school. There was no professional football here to speak of until Mamedkerim Zeynalov started training a group of 34 boys in 2001, work that only turned into a proper structure once the Mārupe Sports Centre opened in 2008 and an adult team began entering official competitions the following season.

Mārupes SC now plays in the Latvian First League, the country's second tier, a step it earned by winning the Second League in 2023. Kristiāns Korsaks led the scoring that season with four goals in eight matches, and defender Gatis Štrauss added a goal and three assists as the club went up. In 2025 the Latvian Football Federation named the club one of the country's leading amateur organisations, a status it still carries even as some of its players hold professional contracts.

The team plays in dark blue and green, with green shorts and socks a fixed part of the kit regardless of what the shirt does each season. Home matches are played at Jaunmārupes stadions, a 400-seat ground on Īvju iela. There is no local rival: Mārupe has no other club to share the town with, so it represents the whole municipality, and its regular opponents in the First League come from Riga and its surrounding clubs. Against Riga United the games have tended to run one-sided, Mārupes SC winning 3-0 in the Latvian Cup in June 2025.

Ringolds Prāvasts, who founded the club, still serves as its president. It is a straight line back to those first sessions with 34 boys on a training pitch in Jaunmārupe, the point from which everything the club has since built started.
