Espergærde

Espergærde's one afternoon against the country's biggest names came in the winter of 1989–90, and it did not end kindly. The club had beaten Hvidovre IF 2–0 and SB50 Ishøj 3–1 to reach the third round of the DBU Pokalen, then met Brøndby IF and lost 3–10.

The club itself grew out of a merger. Two organisations in the same small town on the north coast of Zealand — a football club and a gymnastics society — combined on 3 November 1935 into Espergærde Idrætsforening. The football section has carried the red and white ever since.

Home is Espergærde Stadion, also known as Mørdrup Idrætsanlæg, which holds 1,000. The Danmarksserien, the fifth tier, and the regional competitions run by DBU Sjælland.

The cup still brings the occasional day out. In 2026–27 Espergærde came through qualifying by beating BSI 7–1, then went out in the first round to Skjold Søby, 0–3.
