FK Romanija Pale

The men who rebuilt the club after the Second World War named it for Milan Simović, and for a while the town's team carried his name before settling on the mountain's own. Before that it had been Vihor, formed in 1934, and it would later go by Slobodna Romanija before the current name stuck. Mirko Sekulić captained that postwar side, one of a handful of townsmen — Milovan Janković and Dragiša Andrić among them — who put it back together.

The war of the 1990s stopped the club again; it returned in 1993 and entered the Republika Srpska cup the following year. What came after was mostly the First League, then a drop out of it, then years spent working back up through the regional tiers — a pattern that repeated once more after a brief return in 2009. The only piece of silverware on record dates from the 2013/14 season, when Romanija won the southern group of the Republika Srpska regional league and earned promotion to the Second League. In 2019, Aleksandar Lasica took over as club president and set about rebuilding the side from there.

Pale itself gave the club its nickname — Roma, after the town's long-standing Romani population, not the Italian capital. Games are played at SRC Vlajko Petrović, opened in 1986 and named after a club director killed in the war, on Starine Novaka where the team has returned, promotion by promotion, whenever it has had to start over.
