Romeo Beckham arrived to headlines about his surname and left with a reserve-league shirt like anyone else, a season and a half spent learning the position at a club built for exactly that kind of apprenticeship. Fort Lauderdale CF, as the side was called when it was set up on 1 February 2020, exists to feed players up to Inter Miami CF, and the name changed to match that job in 2022, when it became Inter Miami CF II.

The team plays out of Chase Stadium in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, a 21,550-seat ground that has carried two other names since the club moved in, DRV PNK Stadium and, before that, Inter Miami CF Stadium — the same building, rebranded around it each time a sponsor changed. Pink and black remain the constants.

Shanyder Borgelin has been the club's most reliable finisher, top scorer across the 2022 to 2024 seasons, while Tyler Hall has simply outlasted everyone else on the roster, 71 appearances since 2022 in a division built on constant squad turnover. No MLS Next Pro or USL League Two title has come with any of it; development, not silverware, is the point. The one fixture with an edge to it is the Florida Derby against Orlando City B, the closest thing this age-restricted competition offers to a rivalry with history behind it.

Inter Miami CF II continues in MLS Next Pro, still doing the job it was created for: giving academy products and young signings match minutes before Inter Miami's first team decides whether it needs them.
