Freseros de Irapuato

Three seasons into life, Freseros de Irapuato have yet to find their footing in the Liga Nacional de Baloncesto Profesional: 2025 closed with a 4-24 record and fourteenth place. The 2023-24 debut, an 8-20 finish for thirteenth, now reads as the high point of a short history.

The club exists because Irapuato had never had a professional basketball team of its own, and the name settled the question of identity before a ball was thrown: Los Freseros, after the strawberry fields that define the surrounding Guanajuato countryside. Navy blue, red and white carry that identity onto the court at the Inforum's Centro de Espectáculos, a venue renovated around the franchise's arrival.

Distance rather than history drives the club's sharpest rivalry. Abejas de León sit close enough within the Bajío region that their meetings carry their own name, the Clásico del Bajío.

A women's side, Freseras de Irapuato, plays in the LNBP Femenil, extending the strawberry name across both ends of the club rather than standing as an afterthought.

With no academy pipeline yet to speak of, the roster leans on imports who arrived already formed elsewhere. Jeff Ayres fits that description most.
