Galícia U20

The Clássico de Ouro against Esporte Clube Ypiranga is the fixture that defines Galícia in Salvador. Botafogo Sport Club and Esporte Clube Vitória round out a rivalry list.

Galícia was set up by Galician immigrants in Salvador on 1 January 1933, and the blue and white colours behind the nickname Azulino trace straight back to that origin. The club won the Campeonato Baiano five times, in 1937, 1941, 1942, 1943 and 1968. The closest the club has come in recent memory was lifting the Campeonato Baiano Série B in 2013.

Between 2002 and 2006, Galícia pulled out of professional competition altogether and turned its attention to the academy. The clearest return on that investment is Elaine Estrela Moura, who came through the ranks before winning Olympic silver with the Brazilian women's team in 2004 and gold at the Pan American Games.

The U20 team plays in the Campeonato Baiano Sub-20, known locally as the Baianão Sub-20, and its home ground is Arena Parque Santiago on Avenida Santiago de Compostela. The one mark on record for Galícia in the competition's history is a fourth-place finish in 1999, well behind the recent champions from Vitória and Bahia's own U20 sides.
