Juazeirense U20

The Ju-Ju derby exists because of a lost election. Roberto Carlos, a politician who ran for president of Juazeiro Social Clube and lost to Eládio Rocha, founded Juazeirense instead, and the two clubs from the same city have carried that grudge since. The first official meeting between them, on May 31, 2009, went to Juazeirense, 1-0.

The under-20 side sits inside a club built on that rivalry, playing its matches in the Campeonato Baiano Sub-20 and the Brasileirão Sub-20. In 2023 it went further afield, taking part in the Copa São Paulo de Futebol Júnior.

Two names carry the age group's reputation. Gabriel, a defender who came through the Juazeirense academy, was signed by Vitória's under-20 squad in 2017. Anderson Pato followed a similar path more recently, playing for Juazeirense in the 2025/2026 season before Vitória took him as well.

Investment in that pipeline is visible on the ground: a training centre spanning 70,000 square metres was under construction as of 2024, with the first pitch due to be ready by November of that year.
