Gheorgheni

Adrian Senin took over as manager at CS Gheorgheni after a spell in Liga III with rivals from across the county, and the job he inherited was an odd one: a team that keeps winning a division it has already outgrown. Gheorgheni, founded in 2015, has finished top of Liga IV Harghita five seasons running, from 2018–19 through 2023–24.

The club's full name, CS Gheorgheni-VSK Gheorgheni, carries older history under it. As Viitorul Gheorgheni it was county champion in 1968–69, and under Vulturul Carpatin Gheorgheni it won the regional phase of Divizia C in 1994–95.

CS Miercurea Ciuc, playing as FK Csíkszereda, sits in the same Liga III group most seasons, and the meetings between the two are known as the Hargita Derby. Beyond the county, the club has started to test itself: in the Cupa României, Gheorgheni beat CSE Târgu Secuiesc 3-2 in 2024–25, then reached the third round of the 2025–26 national phase before Liga II side ASA Târgu Mureș ended the run, 2-0.
