Ceahlăul Piatra Neamţ

The best of them was 1999–2000, a fourth-place finish that remains the club's highest placing.

The team grew out of Piatra Neamț in October 1919, taking the name of the mountain that stands over the town — Asociația Sportivă Ceahlăul — and the yellow and black were settled on from the start. It was Progresul in 1949, Avântul two years later, then Recolta after a merger with the paper and cellulose works in 1956, then simply CS Piatra Neamț. The badge outlasted the names.

A second spell in Liga I ran from 2005 to 2015 and ended with debts that finished the club off. It was re-established in 2016 as CSM Ceahlăul Piatra Neamț, with 1919 kept as the founding year.

In the cup the club has never gone past the quarter-finals. It got there in 2001–02 and lost 2–1 to Astra Ploiești in extra time.

Stadionul Ceahlăul holds 18,000, a figure set when the town's football was aiming higher than the division it plays in now.

The fixture that carries most weight is against Politehnica Iași, from the neighbouring county, a match sometimes billed as the Moldavian derby though nothing official has ever attached to it. FC Vaslui provided the sharper edge while both were in Liga I. Closer to home there are Foresta Fălticeni and FC Bacău, and geography alone is enough to make those awkward.
