Heřmanův Městec are playing the 2025/26 season in the 5. liga, the Pardubice region's amateur tier.

The club traces back to 1908, when it started life as Sportovní klub Heřmanův Městec. It did not become a legal entity in its own right, under the name it carries now, FK Jiskra Heřmanův Městec, until 1996, where the club had by then spent the best part of a century moving up and down between regional divisions.

In 1975/76, after a single season down in the district league, Heřmanův Městec fought their way back into the I. B třída past Elite Chrudim. Thirty-five years later, in 2010/11, they climbed back into the Krajský přebor from the I. A třída below it.

One match, decades further back, still gets told. On 11 June 1933, in an international between Czechia and Serbia played in Pardubice, a Heřmanův Městec player named Krupa came on in goal after Viktoria Žižkov's Benda went off injured; the game finished 2-2.

These days the games that matter are the regional ones.
