Kematen

A group of displaced people living in a camp on the edge of Kematen in Tirol started kicking a ball around in 1946, and the informal side that grew out of it became Sportverein Kematen. German-language sources place the club's formal registration, under the name Arbeitersportverein Kematen, in the autumn of 1947; Transfermarkt gives 1 July 1947 as the founding date.

The team plays in blue and white, and the nickname The Blues follows straight from the colours. Home games are played at the Sportplatz Kematen, known locally as Melach Road, though how many it holds depends on who is asked — figures given for it range from around 2,000 to 5,000.

Kematen's best spell came between 1977 and 1980, when the side held its place in the Alpenliga, the third tier of Austrian football at the time. It has not returned to that level since and now plays in the Regionalliga Tirol, the fourth tier, a division it has occupied since the 2014/15 season. Two Tiroler Landesliga West titles, in 1995/96 and 2013/14, each brought promotion with them. Three 1. Klasse Innsbruck championships came one after another in the 1950s, in 1954/55, 1958/59 and 1959/60, and runner-up finishes in the Landesliga followed in 1962/63 and 1991/92.
