Las Vegas Lights

For two seasons the game that mattered most in Las Vegas was against Reno. Two Nevada clubs, both in the USL, both new enough that neither had a past to defend, and supporters of the two sides picked the name themselves before the first meeting in March 2018: the Silver State Cup. It lasted until 2020, when Reno 1868 folded under the financial strain of the pandemic.

The Lights have never won anything. In 2026 they went out of the USL Cup on penalties to AC Boise.

The colours are worth more than the honours board. Blue, yellow and pink — chosen by supporters, drawn from the city's own coat of arms — though the home shirt itself is black and the away white.

Cashman Field has held the club since 2018: 9,334 fixed seats, up to 12,500 once the berm and standing room are counted. In August 2026 the club confirmed the season would be its last there. The ground is to be demolished for redevelopment, and Las Vegas is looking for somewhere to play.

There is no academy. The club works with LAFC instead, which gives it access to young players coming through that system, and the notable names on its books arrived from elsewhere — Julian Gaines from the Barça Residency Academy, his brother Mckinze from New Mexico United.

The name followed on 29 August. The first appearance came on 10 February 2018, a friendly against Montreal Impact that drew 10,387. The league opener, against Reno, brought 9,019.
